The World Economic Forum provides its stakeholders with a platform to engage with the Forum, each other, and the public through in-person and virtual events. The Global Programming Group is the team responsible for stewardship of the Forum’s institutional meetings and dedicated to providing consistent events architecture and services to support the Forum’s value proposition and impact agenda.
Reporting Lines & Interactions
This role will report to the Deputy Head of Event Editorial within the Global Programming Group. The role will work closely with the Forum’s core thematic impact teams (Centres) as well as key communities to maintain an up-to-date and holistic view of Forum priorities, horizon scan the latest issues, and identify cross-thematic collaboration opportunities.
Within the Global Programming Group, the role will work closely with the Event Production and Event Design units to provide a consistent events architecture and services.
Key collaborators will span business, government, centre, marketing, and public engagement teams as well as the Forum’s technology and digital services teams to support data enquiries and provide streamlined data frameworks for editorial purposes.
Each Editorial Specialist manages or supports a thematic portfolio covering the economy, society, environment, technology, or geopolitics. We are currently seeking profiles with thematic specialization across one or several of these areas.
Breakdown of Main Responsibilities

Ensure that all Forum events meet a uniform standard of excellence, including by developing and socializing programme design frameworks, structures, processes, and key tools to support the next era of the Forum’s strategic direction.

Support seamless project management through guidance, templates, data frameworks and tools.

Build and maintain relevant event programme development and editorial processes, templates, dashboards, and databases, and proactively suggest and support trainings for Forum teams to ensure best practices are widely adopted.

Support and co-lead programme design and development process for major institutional events, synthesizing content proposals from Forum teams and balancing impact priorities, partnership goals, inclusion targets, and audience interests.

Support and co-lead process for speaker selection, engagement, and briefings for major institutional events, aligning editorial priorities across centres and institutional communities and diplomatically balancing competing requests.

Support live session delivery for virtual and in-person events.

Support the editorial process by scanning for emerging issues and identifying relevant experts to stay abreast of the latest developments in each thematic portfolio.

Close collaboration with colleagues within and beyond the Global Programming Group, including Centre Heads and teams, Technology and Digital Services, Public Engagement, and business and government engagement functions.

Effective project management skills and ability to respond to data enquiries for editorial purposes including setting up of dashboards on Salesforce and Microsoft Excel.

Conducting thorough post-event debriefs of the editorial process, demonstrating a keen interest for innovation and improvement to maintain standards of excellence.

Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills, including verbal and written communications and presentations to internal and external audiences.

Close collaboration with the broader Forum ecosystem, and ability to navigate the complexity of a matrix organization.

Developing a strong understanding of the Forum’s mission and regularly monitoring the landscape for additional stakeholders to engage and issues to cover.
Preferred Requirements and Experience

Passion for and demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, synthesize, and communicate complex issues to diverse audiences.

An advanced university degree in business, media, communications, economics, journalism, or other relevant fields.

4+ years of relevant professional experience ideally engaging business, government, and non-profit audiences in international environments.

Proven track record of outstanding project management and coordination skills, including data analysis.

Excellent team collaboration, relationship development, and operational skills.

Proven experience thriving in a multicultural work setting that is highly collaborative, and fast-paced; flexibility and the ability to embrace ambiguity is a must.

Fluency in English, with excellent written, digital and verbal communication skills; knowledge of other languages would be an asset.

Mastery of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and in depth experience with Salesforce (including reports and dashboards) a plus.
