SUMMER STUDENT JOB - BIOBANKING COORDINATOR
Full time 8-12 weeks
Quotient is recruiting for a Summer Student to join the R&D Team. The role is a full-time for a period of 8 to 12 weeks, based in Eysins, Switzerland.
YOUR ROLE
Your role will be to support the establishment and operation of a specimen biobank. The successful candidate will contribute to the overall organization, management, and maintenance of the sample library, including the collection, processing, storage, and retrieval of biological specimens or samples.
The candidate will work closely with various research groups to ensure the proper documentation and tracking of specimens or samples, as well as ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines.
- Establish and implement procedures and protocols for the collection, processing, storage, and retrieval of biological specimens or samples.
- Manage and maintain the inventory of specimens or samples, including tracking and documentation of their provenance, storage location, and usage.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance an information management system to track specimens or samples and associated metadata, including accessioning, labelling, and tracking specimens or samples throughout their life cycle.
- Ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines related to the handling of biological specimens or samples.
- Coordinate with researchers to help in sample collection, processing, and distribution.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure the procurement of high-quality materials and equipment needed for the biobank or library.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Scientific (chemistry / biology) high-school training and ideally preparing a bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related field.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others in a team environment.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety, quality control, and quality assurance procedures.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in French and English
